What are the minimum and maximum dimensions of the workpieces that I can automate with Coby?
With a 3-point gripper:
- Diameter min 25mm - max 200mm, depending on gripper fingers' range
- Max height: 200mm
With a 2-point gripper:
- Length/width: min 8mm - max 120mm (outer clamping), depending on gripper fingers' range
- Max height: 150mm
What is the maximum weight of the workpieces that I can automate with Coby?
The maximum lifting capacity of Coby is 5kg. If your Coby has a single gripper, then he will be able to carry a workpiece of up to 5kg. If your Coby has a double gripper, then he can carry 2 workpieces of up to 2,5kg each.

Can I load shafts with Coby?
No. This is not possible with Coby. RoboJob's Turn-Assist systems, however, do have the possibility to load and unload shafts.
Which workpieces can I load and unload with Coby?
With Coby you can load and unload round discs, hexagonal pieces and and square or rectangular blocks, so Coby can automate both turning and milling machines. The maximum lifting capacity of Coby is 5kg, so it is perfect for lighter work!
Can I load plastic workpieces with Coby?
Yes, definitely! You can regulate Coby's gripping pressure to prevent the gripper jaws from leaving marks on softer materials.
My CNC machine does not have a robot interface. Can I automate it with Coby?
Yes. We designed Coby so that you can also automate machines without a robot interface quickly and easily.
Which CNC machines can be automated with Coby?
With Coby, you can automate any turning and milling machine of any brand.
How much space do I need to install Coby?
To install Coby, you need free space in front of your machine that is at least 1500mm wide and 1100mm deep. Also be sure to check your Installation Guide: there you will find a plan of how your Coby should be placed in front of your machine.
How wide does the door opening of my machine need to be?
Depending on the size of your workpieces and the position of the spindle or fixture in the machine, Coby needs the door opening to be at least 470mm wide. That allows Coby to move in and out of your machine while holding a workpiece which is up to 20mm high. For workpieces which are up to 100mm, the door needs to be 550mm wide.

My CNC machine does not have an automatic door. Can I automate it with Coby?
Coby needs an automatic door. If your machine does not have one, you will have to get one installed.
Can you automate the door of my CNC machine?
No. For that, it is best to turn to your machine supplier or a specialist in the automation of machine doors.
My machine does not have an automatic fixture. Can I automate it with Coby?
Coby requires the cnc machine to have an automatic fixture. If your machine does not have one, you will need to get it installed.
Who do I call with questions during the installation process?
We do not offer live support for Coby. However, you can find all necessary information in your Quick Start Guide as well as online in the tutorials and frequently asked questions. You will also find video tutorials on all aspects of both installation and daily usage, and there's more to come!
My company has branches outside of Europe. Is Coby shipped worldwide?
Not for the time being. We ship Coby to the majority of countries in Europe.
Which skills do I need to install Coby?
Very basic technical knowledge is more than enough. Just read through the installation guide and follow the instructions step by step.
Which tools do I need to install Coby?
To install Coby, you need the following tools:
- a forklift or pallet truck
- a set of hex keys
- a box cutter
- degreaser for the button pusher
- electrical diagram of your CNC machine

I'm having problems during installation. Where can I find the Help Center?
On the Coby website you will find all the technical information you need to make your installation a success.
Does Coby require maintenance?
Coby requires only minimal maintenance. The FANUC robots we use don't need any maintenance at all during the first 8 years! After those 8 years, Coby's oil will need to be changed by a FANUC technician. More information about this can be found in Coby's operating manual, provided to you on a USB drive.
We also recommend that you change Coby's batteries every year. You can order the batteries in our webshop.
Will RoboJob come to install my Coby?
The engineers at RoboJob did everything (and more) to make the installation process of Coby CNC super easy. The system is truly designed to be DIY from start to finish.
That being said, if you would still prefer a RoboJob technician to install your Coby, please talk to your commercial contact. Bear in mind that your installation will then be included in RoboJob's installation planning, which means it could take months until there is a technician available.
How long does the installation process take?
Coby is not only easy to install, but also fast. In less than a day, you can complete the entire installation.
How long does it take to program Coby?
Programming a cobot can be quite complex. Fortunately, Coby uses the user-friendly software of RoboJob! This software allows you to program Coby in just a few minutes.
Is Coby suitable for my CNC machine?
It is if you can check all of these boxes:
- The door of your CNC lathe or milling machine is automated.
- The door opening is at least 470mm wide. (It might need to be wider, depending on the size of the workpieces.)
- Your machine works with automatic power chucks or machine clamps.
- The cycle start button is a physical button (not a soft button on a touch screen).
- You have ample space in front of the machine: 1100 mm deep and 1500 mm wide.
- You have the electrical diagram of your CNC machine and know how to convert the right signals from it.
What is the warranty period on Coby?
Coby comes with a 12-month warranty on all design defects and spare parts.
Is Coby CE (European Conformity) certified?
Yes. Coby comes with a CE-IIA installation declaration. The CobyBox is CE-IIB certified.
The CE certification of the entire system (Coby CNC + CobyBox + CNC machine) is to be arranged by the customer.
What is covered by the warranty?
The warranty covers all design defects and spare parts, but not the working hours and travel time of technicians.

Can I use homemade grippers on my Coby?
No, this is not possible.

No, these options are not available. We have deliberately chosen to limit the functionalities of Coby to what is really important when loading and unloading your CNC machine. In this way, we can keep Coby simple and affordable.
